Men's Golf Report (Week 4) - Transy's Justin Tereshko Finishes 2nd at Emory
GREENWOOD, IN - Transylvania University's men's
golf team carved three shots off its first-round score Tuesday and
went on to post a second-place finish at the competitive Emory
Spring Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Pioneers, ranked No. 7 nationally, fired a 296 on Monday and
added a 293 on Tuesday. The effort was good enough to tie
first-round leader Oglethorpe for second place, finishing seven
shots back of winner Methodist.
Methodist roared back from seventh place to post a four-under 284
for a two-day total of 582. Transy and Oglethorpe were tied at
589.
Individually, Transy's Justin Tereshko (Madison,
Ind./H.S.) followed his first round 70 with a four under
par 68 on Tuesday. The senior finished second overall with a total
of 138, trailing LaGrange's Hudson Keener, who finished eight under
par at the event.
College of Mount St. Joseph was in action at Illinois Wesleyan Saturday. The Lions placed 12th in the 23 team event with a two round total of 632.
Sophomore Phil Gilmore (Wilmington, Ohio/H.S.) led the Mount with a two round total of 154 (80-74), finishing in a tie for 21st.
Defiance and Hanover were also in action last week. The Jackets placed fourth in the four team Defiance Invitational, while the Panthers placed second at the Big Four Classic.
