Men's Golf Report (Week 3) - Transylvania Places 1st at Hanover Invitational

GREENWOOD, IN - Transylvania University led the HCAC field for the second straight week, earning the title at the Hanover Invitational over the weekend.  The Pioneers held off second place Mount St. Joseph by 36 strokes to win the two-round event.

Transy finished the event, held at Shadowood Golf Course in Seymour, Indiana, with a two-day score of 578.  Clay Hinton (Elizabethtown, Ky./H.S.) led the way with a first place finish, carding rounds of 71 and 70.

TU's Jantzen Latham (Central City, Ky./Muhlenberg Co.) finished second in the individual standings with a two-round total of 143 (73-70).

The College of Mount St. Joseph finished behind the Pioneers in the standings and walked away with a second place showing.  Sophomore Phil Gilmore (Wilmington, Ohio/H.S.) finished tied for second in the standings with a total of 143 (73-70).

Hanover College carded a third place finish at the 10-team event with a total of 621.  Robert Bader (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) paced the Panthers with rounds of 77 and 72 to place seventh overall.

Franklin (4th), Defiance (6th), Anderson (8th), Manchester (9th), and Rose-Hulman (10th) rounded out the HCAC finishers at the tournament.

This week's schedule is light as only four schools will hit the course (schedule).
