GCAA Announce All-Region and All-America Scholars for 2012
HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FL - Six HCAC men's golfers
have been named to the All-Great Lakes Region team by the Golf
Coaches Association of America.
Transylvania had five players earn the honor, while Hanover placed
a single player. The awards were announced following the
first round of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship at
Howie-in-the-Hills, Florida.
Selected to the All-Region team this year are Transy's
Justin Tereshko, Hunter Frazier,
Clay Hinton, Jantzen Latham, and
Stephen Montgomery and Hanover's Robert
Bader.
Tereshko and Frazier are repeat picks from last year while
Latham was on the All-Region freshman team a season ago.
In addition, Transy senior James Dawson and Mount
St. Joseph's Kenny Brosnan were picked for the
Cleveland Golf Srixon All-America Scholar team. Both the All-Region
teams and the Academic All-America teams were announced following
the first round of the national championship tournament.
A total of 23 student-athletes were named to the All-Academic
team. To be eligible, an athlete must be a junior or senior, have
played 70 percent of his team's competitive rounds or in the NCAA
Championships, have a stroke average of 79 or better, and have a
grade-point average of at least 3.2.
There were a total of six All-Region teams selected. The Great
Lakes Region had 12 members.
