Transylvania Leads HCAC Men's Golf Field Heading into Final Weekend

GREENWOOD, IN – The 2012 HCAC men’s golf tournament shifts north to Wabash, Indiana for the third and final rounds this weekend. Transylvania University is shooting for their sixth consecutive HCAC men's golf title and leads the field by 17 strokes heading into the final weekend. The final rounds will take place at Honeywell Golf Course in Wabash, Indiana Saturday and Sunday.
The conference champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships which will be held on May 15-18 in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
The Pioneers fired a total of 293 on day one and followed that effort with an identical 293 on Sunday. Transy totaled a 586 for the two days and lead second place Mount St. Joseph (603) and third place Hanover (607). The rest of the field includes Franklin (619), Defiance (644), Anderson (651), Manchester (651), and Rose-Hulman (658).
Transylvania's Justin Tereshko (Madison, Ind./H.S.) currently leads the individual standings with rounds of 69 and 72. The senior currently holds a three shot lead over teammate Jantzen Latham (Central City, Ky./Muhlenberg Co.).
The top eight finishers after Sunday's round is complete will earn All-HCAC honors. The top freshman finisher will receive the Freshman of the Year award. Action will get underway Saturday and Sunday at 8:30 AM.
