GREENWOOD, IN - Transylvania University's men's golf team placed fifth among 30 teams at the prestigious Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational in Georgia over the weekend. The Pioneers are currently ranked 16th in the Golf World/Nike Golf Division III national rankings.
Transylvania's Jantzen Latham (Central City,
Ky./Muhlenberg Co.) carded a 75 on the final day of
competition and totaled 220 for the tournament. The junior
placed fifth in the individual standings, finishing three shots
behind the medalists.
Clay Hinton (Elizabethtown, Ky./H.S.) and Hunter Frazier (Lexington, Ky./Christian) fired a total of 228, which placed them in a tie for 29th.
As a team, Transy fired totals of 295, 301, and 308. Illinois Wesleyan won the event with a total of 882 and was followed by Methodist (890), Oglethorpe (893), Emory (902) and Transy (904).
This weekend, six of the conference schools will be competing on the links at the Mount St. Joseph Invitational on March 23-24.
