
GREENWOOD, IN - Hanover College senior Robert Bader (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) earned his second consecutive Hanover Invitational title and led the Panthers' to a second-place finish at the eight team event. The 36-hole tournament was held at Shadowood Golf Course in Seymour, Ind.
Bader, who has three top-two finishes in the annual event, posted back-to-back rounds of 70 to end with a school-record four-under-par 140 (70-70) and win medalist honors by five strokes.
Hanover totaled a school-record 596 (297-299) to land eight shots behind Davenport University (Iowa) for the team crown.
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology was third in the team standings with a 608 (308-300). Sanders Park (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton) placed seventh in the standings to lead the Engineers, firing rounds of 76 and 73.
Manchester carded a fifth place finish with a total of 616, while Defiance placed seventh (636) and Anderson finished eighth (728).
The College of Mount St. Joseph finished eighth at the 20-team Illinois Wesleyan Invitational earlier in the week. Sophomore Eric Hensler (Fairfield, Ohio/H.S.) led the Lions with an 11th place finish (75-75).
Transylvania University was also in action, competing at Emory. The Pioneers finished eighth among 14 teams at the 18-hole event. Senior Clay Hinton (Elizabethtown, Ky./H.S.) paced the Pioneers with a round of 73 to finish 10th in the individual standings.
All eight HCAC squads will compete at the Defiance Invitational Saturday and Sunday. The event will be the final tune-up before the first two rounds of the HCAC tournament on April 26-27.
