GREENWOOD, IN - The Transylvania University men's golf team and Hanover College's women's golf team are set to take part in the NCAA Division III Championships this week. The men will play May 13-16 at Grandover Resort, in Greensboro, North Carolina, while the women will play May 13-16 at the El Campeon Golf Course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
Transy, which finished 2nd in the NCAA tourney for a second-straight year last spring, earned their way into the event by claiming their eighth straight HCAC title. It will be the Pioneers’ eighth straight appearance in the national event.
TU's players are among a total of 210 participants, including 31 teams that won their respective conference championships, three independents or schools whose conferences do not receive automatic qualifiers, and seven schools that received at-large bids.
The field will be cut to the top 15 teams after the first 36 holes of play.
The Pioneers enter the race ranked No. 11 in the Golf Week/Nike coaches' poll, and are rolling in with winning momentum.
The Panthers’ women’s squad will compete in a 72 hole event down in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
Hanover earned automatic qualification for the NCAA finals event by winning the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament title last October.
