GREENWOOD, IN - Mount St. Joseph University's men's golf team led the six competing HCAC schools at the Mount St. Joseph Spring Invitational with a second place finish this past weekend. The Lions finished three strokes behind Otterbein University in the team standings.
Mount St. Joseph finished the 36-hole tournament, held at Aston Oaks Golf Course, with a score of 630. Senior Eric Hensler (Fairfield, Ohio/H.S.) led all HCAC golfers at the tournament, firing rounds of 74 and 77 to finish two strokes behind the medalist.
Franklin College finished 24 strokes behind MSJ in the team standings and placed fifth overall. Freshman Jacob Hash (Franklin, Ind./H.S.) finished 15th in the individual standings with rounds of 78 and 82.
Defiance College carded a sixth place finish at the 10-team event with a total of 659.
Hanover (8th), Rose-Hulman (9th) and Manchester (10th) rounded out the HCAC finishers at the tournament.
Transylvania University was also in action, competing at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational. Senior Jeff Meade (Ashland, Ky./Paul Blazer) led the Pioneers with rounds of 75, 71 and 73 to finish in a tie for 35th place with a three-round total of 219. Transylvania finished 20th overall among the 30 competing teams.
Rose-Hulman will host Franklin, Hanover, Manchester and Mount St. Joseph at the RHIT Invite this weekend.
