GREENWOOD, IN - Franklin College's men's golf team led the five competing HCAC schools at the Rose-Hulman Invitational with a first place finish this past weekend. The Grizzlies finished five strokes ahead of Mount St. Joseph University in the team standings.
Franklin finished the 36-hole tournament, held at Hulman Links Golf Course, with a score of 610. Sophomore Sam Godby (Lebanon, Ind./H.S.) led the Grizzlies at the tournament, firing rounds of 74 and 75 to finish two strokes behind the medalist.
Rose-Hulman's Sanders Park (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton) captured medalist honors at the event, carding rounds of 75 and 72. His efforts led the host Engineers to a fourth place finish among the 10 schools.
Mount St. Joseph finished second in the team standings. Junior Jason Sawyer (Findlay, Ohio/Van Buren) finished fifth in the individual standings with rounds of 76 and 75.
Hanover College carded a seventh place finish at the 10-team event with a total of 649, while Manchester University finished ninth (683).
Anderson, Defiance, Manchester and Mount St. Joseph will be in action this weekend.
