GREENWOOD, IN – The 2016 HCAC men’s golf tournament shifts north to Wabash, Indiana for the third and final rounds this weekend. Transylvania University is shooting for their 10th consecutive HCAC men's golf title and leads the competitive field by only two strokes heading into the final weekend. The final rounds will take place at Honeywell Golf Course in Wabash, Indiana Saturday and Sunday.
The conference champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships which will be held on May 10-13 in Rochester, New York.
The Pioneers fired a total of 297 on day one and followed that effort with a 300 on Sunday. Transy totaled a 597 for the two days and lead second place Hanover by two strokes. Mount St. Joseph sits four strokes back of the Pioneers with a two-round total of 601, while first round leader Defiance is fourth in the standings with a 602. The rest of the field includes Rose-Hulman (626), Franklin (632), Manchester (652), and Anderson (711).
Defiance's Alex Miday (Canton, Ohio/St. Thomas) currently leads the individual standings with rounds of 68 and 72, sitting at four under par.
The top eight finishers after Sunday's round is complete will earn All-HCAC honors. The top freshman finisher will receive the Freshman of the Year award. Action will get underway Saturday at 11AM and Sunday at 9AM.
