Men's Soccer Report (Week 2) - Transy Ties John Carroll, Defeats Waynesburg
GREENWOOD, IN- Transylvania University moved to 2-1-1 in men's soccer with a tie and a victory at the John Carroll Men's Soccer Classic this past weekend. The Pioneers opened the weekend with a 2-2 double overtime tie against John Carroll and closed the classic with a 4-1 triumph over Waynesburg.
The 2-2 tie vs. John Carroll was the first meeting between the two schools since Transy defeated the Blue Streaks in the 2007 NCAA Division III playoffs. In the Pioneers' 4-1 win over Waynesburg, junior forward Brian Williams (Lexington, Ky./Tates Creek) scored two goals to lead TU to the win.
Defiance won its only game of the week to improve to 2-1 on the young season, defeating previously unbeaten Wooster 4-1. Junior forward Chris Kessler (Canal Winchester, Ohio/Pickerington) provided a goal and an assist, earning the HCAC Player of the Week award.
