Men's Soccer Report (Week 5) - Franklin Notches a Pair of Shutout Wins
GREENWOOD, IN - Franklin College moved to 1-0 in HCAC men's soccer action with a win over Manchester this past week. The Grizzlies (4-4-1, 1-0 HCAC) posted a 2-0 shutout at Concordia (IL) in non-conference action and beat Manchester 1-0 Saturday.
Senior midfielder Grant Krevda (Carmel, Ind./Cathedral) found the back of the net in the 11th minute against Concordia (IL) to help the Grizzlies earn the non-conference road win.
Against Manchester, junior forward Joel Fisher (Clayton, Ind./Cascade) scored the game's only goal in the 78th minute to deliver the win to FC.
Rose-Hulman has won four in a row, including two 5-0 shutout wins over Millikin and Mount St. Joseph last weekend. The Engineers hold a 2-0 mark in league play and have not allowed a single goal in three straight games.
Rose sophomore B.J. Thompson (Princeton, Ind./H.S.) scored twice in RHIT’s 5-0 over Millikin and added his third goal of the week against Mount St. Joseph Saturday. Thompson scored his three goals on just four shots, earning Player of the Week honors.
Transylvania stands 7-2-1 overall and 2-0 in HCAC play after posting three consecutive wins. The Pioneers handed Berea a 4-0 defeat during the week and handled Bluffton 3-0 Saturday.
Freshman forward Jeff Michael (Milford, Ohio/H.S.) scored a goal in each victory for Transy.
In other conference action last week...Defiance moved to 1-0-1 in HCAC play with a 3-1 win at Hanover, while Anderson improved to 1-0-1 in conference action after a 2-1 defeat of Earlham.
