Men's Soccer Report (Week 1) - Transylvania Opens Season 2-0

LEXINGTON, KY -The Transylvania University men's soccer team defeated Chapman (CA) 2-1 in the second contest of the Glenn Hyundai College Showcase in Lexington on Saturday, posting a 2-0 mark at the invitational.  The Pioneers defeated Asbury 1-0 in Friday's first contest.

Senior Kevin Jones (Middletown, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) and freshman Christian King (Nicholasville, Ky./East Jessamine) found the back of the net in the 2-1 win over Chapman.  Senior Zach Lange (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) scored the only goal in TU's 1-0 win over Asbury.

The Pioneers entered the season ranked No. 9 in the NSCAA preseason poll and are currently ranked No. 4 in the Great Lakes region.

Franklin finished the week with a 2-0-1 record after two impressive road wins.  After opening the season with a 3-3 draw against Spalding, FC dismantled Eureka 6-0 and Knox 6-1 on a two game weekend road trip. 

Senior midfielder Grant Krevda (Carmel, Ind./Cathedral) totaled four goals and an assist on the week and was named HCAC Player of the Week for his efforts.
