Men's Soccer Report (Week 6) - Quakers Net Shutouts Over MSJ and Bluffton
GREENWOOD, IN - Earlham College has now won three of its past four matches after opening the season 0-8. The Quakers (3-9, 2-1 HCAC) earned a pair of 1-0 shutout wins over Bluffton and Mount St. Joseph during the week.
In the 1-0 win over Bluffton, Corey Campbell (Mason, Ohio/H.S.) found the back of the net in the game's second minute. The EC defense managed to limit the Beavers to only one shot on goal in the win.
Ameer Yusuf (Ramallah, Palestine/Friends) scored the game-winning goal against Mount St. Joseph Saturday. The sophomore forward found the back of the net in the 85th minute to deliver the Quakers a 1-0 win.
Earlham will face first place Transylvania in Lexington Wednesday and welcome Hanover to Richmond Saturday.
Transylvania remained the only unblemished squad in the standings. The Pioneers (6-4-2, 3-0 HCAC) shutout Asbury 2-0 in non-conference action and held off Manchester 1-0 Saturday.
Kyle Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) scored the game's only goal against the Spartans, finding the back of the net in the 16th minute.
Anderson University dropped its first decision in HCAC play this fall. The Ravens (6-6-1, 3-1 HCAC) fell 1-0 at Bluffton Saturday after earning a 1-0 overtime win at Franklin during the week.
