GREENWOOD, IN - Manchester trailed Hanover 2-0 in Saturday's HCAC opener, but managed to pull out a 3-2 overtime win. The Spartans (3-5-1, 1-0 HCAC) scored three times in the final ten minutes to pull out the victory over the host Panthers (2-6, 0-1 HCAC).
Manchester's Dian Radev (Burgas, Bulgaria/Vasil Levski) found the back of the net in the 83rd minute to get the Spartans on the board.
The Spartans struck again as Andrew Gray (Anderson, Ind./H.S.) scored on a deflection to tie the game with just over a minute remaining in the contest.
The black and gold completed the comeback with a goal from Corey Brueggeman (Loveland, Ohio/Little Miami) in the 93rd minute to earn the 3-2 win.
Three other HCAC openers took place on Saturday. Anderson opened the conference schedule with a 3-0 defeat of Defiance, while Mount St. Joseph beat Bluffton by the same score.
Transylvania (3-3-2, 1-0 HCAC) scored a 3-1 defeat of Rose-Hulman (5-4, 0-1 HCAC) in Terre Haute.
Senior forward Tony Spero (Lexington, Ky./Dunbar) scored his first two goals of the year as the Pioneers earned the win in the league opener.
Conference action continues on Saturday as all 10 schools meet on the pitch.
