GREENWOOD, IN - Rose-Hulman and Transylvania played to a 2-2 tie after a pair of overtime periods Saturday afternoon. The Engineers (8-4-3, 4-0-1 HCAC) and Pioneers (10-1-2, 4-0-1 HCAC) sit in a dead heat in the race for the HCAC championship with four matches remaining.
Rose-Hulman jumped out to a 1-0 lead after Will Senat (Edmond, Ok./North) found the back of the net in the ninth minute of action.
Transy countered with a pair of goals in the 57th and 61st minute as Eric Froschauer (Union, Ky./Ryle) and Kyle Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) beat the Engineers' defense.
Junior Drew Belk (Jasper, Ind./H.S.) scored the equalizer in the 74th minute, giving each team a point in the standings.
The tie ended a seven match win streak for Transylvania as the Pioneers stand No. 9 in the latest NSCAA/Adidas Great Lakes Regional Rankings.
Transy will entertain Earlham and Defiance this week, while Rose will face Franklin and Hanover on the road.
Franklin remained in third place in the HCAC race after splitting a pair of league matches last week. The Grizzlies (5-6-2, 3-1-1 HCAC) bounced back from the loss to Transylvania and blanked Defiance 3-0.
The blue and gold stand three points behind Transy and Rose and hold a three point lead over Earlham, Anderson, and Defiance in the league standings.
Conference action continues this week with matches slated on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
