GREENWOOD, IN - Hanover College improved to 3-0 in HCAC action following a pair of 1-0 wins last week. The Panthers (7-5-1, 3-0 HCAC) are currently in a three-way tie for first in the standings with Earlham and Rose-Hulman.
Hanover's Matthew Eldridge (Louisville, Ky./Trinity) scored a pair of game-winning goals in the two victories.
The freshman forward scored in the 17th minute to propel Hanover to a 1-0 upset win at Transylvania and found the back of the net in overtime in HC's 1-0 win over Anderson Saturday.
Hanover will face Earlham and Bluffton this week.
In other action...
Earlham College (7-6, 3-0 HCAC) survived a couple close contests last week, remaining unblemished in league play. The Quakers beat Defiance 2-1 in overtime and escaped Bluffton 1-0. EC will travel to Hanover and Manchester this week.
Rose-Hulman (6-4-2, 3-0 HCAC) kept pace with Hanover and Earlham with wins over Anderson and Defiance. Senior Ben Green (Frisco, Texas/Centennial) scored both goals in the 2-1 road win over Anderson to lead the Engineers offense during the week.
Franklin College was also 2-0 last week, improving to 2-1 in conference action. The Grizzlies (4-5-2, 2-1 HCAC) blanked Manchester 2-0 and won at Mount St. Joseph 5-1.
