Matt Vogel Named Transylvania Men's Soccer Head Coach

LEXINGTON, KY — Assistant Men's Soccer
Coach Matt Vogel has been named head coach of the Transylvania
men's soccer team, the athletic department announced Monday.
A 2008 graduate of Transylvania, Vogel played soccer for three seasons after transferring from the University of Kentucky and helped the Pioneers to their first ever Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Vogel was a two-time All-American selection by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and D3Kicks.com. He was also a three-time NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region selection, a three-time All-HCAC selection and was named team MVP all three years.
After earning a degree in exercise science and business administration at Transylvania, Vogel went on to earn a master's in education and health promotion and kinesiology from the University of Kentucky, while serving as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach.
Vogel took over the Mercer County High School soccer program in 2012 and led the Titans to a flawless 10-0 record in region play earning the 12th Region Championship. Vogel also served as head coach at Lexington FC and as a staff coach with the Kentucky Olympic Development Program before being named an assistant coach at Transylvania in 2013.
In 2013, Vogel helped the Pioneers to a 13-5-2 overall record. Transylvania posted a 6-2 record in conference play and fell to HCAC champions Rose-Hulman in the championship game.
