Men's Soccer Report (Week 4) - Pioneers Improve to HCAC-Best 6-2

GREENWOOD, IN - Transylvania University netted a pair of one-goal victories last week, improving to a HCAC-best 6-2 on the season.   The Pioneers (6-2, 0-0 HCAC) beat Thomas More and Spalding in Lexington, running their win streak to three in a row.

On Tuesday, Transy pulled out a 1-0 win over Thomas More.  Senior midfielder Christian King (Nicholasville, Ky./East Jessamine) scored the game's only goal in the 68th minute to deliver the win to the Pioneers.

TU capped off the week with an exciting 2-1 win over Spalding.  The Pioneers scored two goals late in the second half, overcoming a 1-0 deficit with just over 30 minutes remaining in the contest. 

The Pioneers moved to No. 9 in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA DIII Great Lakes Region rankings.

Transylvania will close out the non-conference schedule at Maryville (TN) tonight.

In other action...

Rose-Hulman went 1-1 on the road last week. The Engineers (3-2-2, 0-0 HCAC) pulled out a 2-1 double overtime win at Fontbonne Wednesday before suffering a 1-0 double overtime loss at Centre Sunday.

Anderson University stands 4-4 overall this fall after notching a win over Spalding and a loss to Illinois Tech. Todd Canal (Indianapolis, Ind./Covenant Christian) netted four goals during the week, including a hat trick in AU's 3-0 win over Spalding.
