GREENWOOD, Ind. --- The HCAC men's soccer title match has been set after an exciting first night of action on Wednesday. No. 1 Transylvania and No. 3 Rose-Hulman advance to Saturday's title match at Transylvania after posting victories.
Top seed Transylvania claimed a 1-0 win over No. 4 Manchester on Wednesday evening. Griffin Lamb scored the lone goal of the match and was assisted by Jacob Gantt. The Pioneers advance to the championship game on Saturday for the third time in five years.
Rose-Hulman netted a 1-1 tie over No. 2 seed Hanover Wednesday night. After 110 minutes of play at Hanover, the victor was decided on a 4-3 penalty kick decision. Rose-Hulman's Turner Perkins made the final penalty kick to help the Engineers advance to the title match on Saturday.
With their win as the top seed, Transylvania has earned the right to host Rose-Hulman in the HCAC championship match at 7 p.m. Saturday. The winner will receive the HCAC's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament.
