INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The HCAC men's soccer title match has been set after an exciting night of action on Tuesday. No. 1 Hanover and No. 2 Transylvania advance to Saturday's title match at in Hanover, Ind. after claiming victories in the semifinal round.
Top seed Hanover claimed a 1-0 win over No. 4 Manchester on Tuesday afternoon. Hanover's Ethan Miller scored the lone goal of the match in the 83rd minute and was assisted by Evan Redmon. The Panthers advance to the championship game on Saturday for the third time in four years.
Transylvania netted a 0-0 tie over No. 3 seed Rose-Hulman Tuesday night. After 110 minutes of play in Lexington, Ky., the victor was decided on a 5-4 penalty kick decision. Transylvania's Zach Hill made the final penalty kick to help the Pioneers advance to the title match on Saturday.
With their win as the top seed, Hanover has earned the right to host Transylvania in the HCAC championship match at 2 p.m. Saturday. The winner will receive the HCAC's automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament.
