Men's Tennis Report (Week 6) - Rose Moves to 3-0 in HCAC Action
GREENWOOD, IN- Rose-Hulman
moved to 3-0 in HCAC action after posting an 8-1 win over Franklin
Saturday. The Engineers (4-3, 3-0 HCAC) finished the week 1-3
overall, dropping non-league matches to Ferris State, DePauw, and
Indiana Tech.
In an 8-1 win over Franklin, Rose was led by Alex Gumz (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd) at No. 3 singles and doubles. Gumz posted a 6-2, 6-1 win in singles and teamed with Devon Fritz (Lakeside, Cali./West Hills) for an 8-6 victory in doubles action.
The Engineers return to the court Wednesday afternoon at Wabash and will return to HCAC action Saturday morning at Mount St. Joseph.
In other conference action, Hanover (3-3, 1-1 HCAC) earned its first conference win of the season. The Panthers posted an 8-1 victory over host Mount St. Joseph (0-1, 0-1 HCAC) Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Steven Gilliam (Fishers, Ind./H.S.) notched a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles and added an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles against the Lions.
HC will return to HCAC play Saturday afternoon at Defiance.
