Men's Tennis Report (Week 11) - Earlham Snaps Transy's 68-Match HCAC Win Streak

GREENWOOD, IN- Earlham College ended a historic run for the Transylvania University men's tennis squad Sunday afternoon, ending the Pioneers 68-match win streak in conference play.  The Quakers (11-3, 4-1 HCAC) handed Transy an 8-1 defeat in Lexington, becoming the first HCAC squad to knock off the Pioneers since 2002.

In the historic 8-1 win, Earlham's Henry Levin (Dallas, Tex./Highland Park) defeated two-time HCAC Player of the Year Will Palmer (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (10-3).

Levin finished the week with a 5-1 record overall as Earlham went 4-0 as a team. 

The Quakers also earned 9-0 wins over Defiance and Anderson in league play, while adding a non-league win over Indiana-East (8-1).

EC now stands second in the league standings behind first place Rose-Hulman.  The Engineers (7-7, 6-1 HCAC) defeated the Quakers 5-4 in early February.

Earlham will return to action against Mount St. Joseph and Manchester in a tri-match Saturday.

In other conference action during the week, Manchester, Hanover, and Franklin took part in a tri-match at Franklin College.  The Grizzlies (5-6, 4-2 HCAC) earned a sweep on Sunday, defeating Hanover 5-4 and Manchester 8-1.

The HCAC Men's Tennis Tournament is slated for April 30-May 1 at West Indy Racquet Club in Indianapolis.
