Men's Tennis Report (Week 6) - Earlham Goes Perfect 3-0 on Florida Trip

GREENWOOD, IN- Earlham College continued its hot play, posting a 3-0 record in Orlando, Florida last week.  The Quakers (9-1, 2-0 HCAC) have won six in a row after defeating St. Scholastica, Principia, and Goucher.

Earlham junior Brad Maisey (Mount Maunganui, New Zealand/ Tauranga Boys) led the Quakers during the trip and was the only EC player to go 6-0 during the three matches.  Maisey posted 2-0 records at No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles and 1-0 marks at No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles.

EC defeated St. Scholastica 7-2 and beat Principia and Goucher by 8-1 scores.

The Quakers will return to the court on March 24 against Mount St. Joseph.

In other action...Transylvania (1-2, 0-0 HCAC) went 1-1 against Spring Hill down in Orange Beach, Alabama.  The Pioneers earned a 6-3 win on March 14 and fell to Spring Hill 5-4 on the 16th.

Senior Will Palmer (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) went 4-0 during the trip, earning a pair of wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles.

The Pioneers will face Indiana East and Wittenberg Saturday.

Defiance (2-6, 0-1 HCAC) also traveled over Spring Break and notched a 2-2 record in Hilton Head, South Carolina last week.

The Jackets earned 9-0 sweeps of Roosevelt and Johnson State and fell to Salem State (5-4) and Illinois-Springfield (7-0).

Mount St. Joseph (2-1, 0-0 HCAC) earned its first spring win, posting a 8-1 win over Thomas More.  The Lions will play a pair of HCAC matches this week at home against Hanover and Earlham.
