Men's Tennis Report (Week 7) - Franklin Stands 3-1 After Defeating Hanover
GREENWOOD, IN- Franklin College posted its third consecutive league win during the week. The Grizzlies (4-7, 3-1 HCAC) moved into second place in the HCAC standings after an exciting 5-4 win over rival Hanover Sunday.
Franklin's Justin Smith (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) delivered the win over rival Hanover late in the match.
With the team score tied at 4-4, the Grizzly senior outlasted his No. 3 singles opponent in a third-set tiebreaker to hand FC the match victory.
Smith won 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (7-2) at No. 3 singles and also earned an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles against the Panthers.
The Grizzlies will return to the court on March 30 at Birmingham Southern.
In other conference action...Hanover (5-5, 2-1 HCAC) posted a 6-3 win on the road against Mount St. Joseph (2-2, 0-1 HCAC).
Senior Kyle Bohnert (Louisville, Ky./Trinity) went 2-0 during the match, posting wins at No. 3 singles and doubles for the Panthers.
Mount's Sandy Berry (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) was impressive for the Lions, earning victories at No. 1 singles and doubles in the loss.
