Men's Tennis Report (Week 4) - Hanover Posts Two Wins in Sunshine State

GREENWOOD, IN- The Hanover College men's tennis team opened the season with a five game trip down in Orlando, Florida.  The Panthers (2-3, 0-0 HCAC) notched two wins in the Sunshine State, earning victories over Alma and Concordia-Moorhead.

Junior Steven Gilliam (Fishers, Ind./H.S.) finished the week with a 3-2 record at No. 1 singles and a 2-3 mark at No. 1 doubles.

Freshman Max Erlewein (Cambridge City, Ind./Lincoln) also held a winning record in singles action, earning a 3-1 record at the No. 6 position.

Hanover will open HCAC play on the road against Manchester (1-2, 0-0 HCAC) Saturday morning at 10:00 AM.

In other action...Earlham (5-1, 2-0 HCAC) moved to 5-1 overall this season with a 7-2 win at Wabash. 

Earlham's Anton Bartashevich (Moscow, Russia/International) won two matches against the Little Giants, earning a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles and an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles.

The Quakers will face Capital in Dayton, Ohio this week.

Franklin (2-6, 1-1 HCAC) and Defiance (0-2, 0-1 HCAC) met in a HCAC match Saturday with the Grizzlies earning an 8-1 victory.  Junior Blake Wareham (Carmel, Ind./Newark) led the Grizzlies with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles and an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles.
