Men's Tennis Report (Week 8) - Mount St. Joseph Wins a Pair over Defiance and Thomas More

GREENWOOD, IN- The College of Mount St. Joseph finished the week with a pair of wins.  The Lions (4-3, 1-2 HCAC) opened with an 8-1 setback to first place Earlham and closed the week with 6-3 wins over Defiance and rival Thomas More.

Mount St. Joseph's Sandy Berry (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) remained perfect in singles play this season with a 3-0 mark during the week. 

The senior defeated Earlham's Henry Levin 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in the loss to the Quakers (10-1, 3-0 HCAC) and followed with victories at the No. 1 singles position against DC and TMC.  Berry stands 7-0 at No. 1 singles this season for the Lions.

The Mount will host Bluffton and Franklin in HCAC contests this week.

In other conference action...Transylvania (2-4, 1-0 HCAC) blanked Anderson (0-3, 0-1 HCAC) 9-0 in the league opener for both schools.

Senior Will Palmer (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) notched a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles and teamed with Keith Henderson (Lexington, Ky./Lafayette) for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles against the Ravens.

Rose-Hulman (1-4, 1-2 HCAC) earned its first win of the season with a 9-0 win over Bluffton (0-4, 0-1 HCAC) Monday.

Junior Ben Paras (Tucson, Ariz./Nordhoff) won 6-0, 6-0 and 8-0 at No. 1 singles and doubles against the Beavers.
