Earlham College Men's Tennis Team Honored for Academics

RICHMOND, IN — The Earlham College men's tennis team was one of 39 squads honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday as the 2013 All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes were announced.

In addition to the team award, the Quakers had four individuals named on the scholar-athlete list as Matthew Foster (Media, Pa./Strat Haven), Andrey Gavrilov (Yaroslavl, Russia/Universal), Scott Lawrence (Letchworth, England/Cheam) and Phillip Locklear (Springboro, Ohio/H.S.) were honored for their performance in the classroom.

Individuals had to have a 3.5 GPA or better to make the list, while the teams qualified with at least a 3.2 average.

On the court, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference champions finished at 19-3 as the Quakers made their third straight appearance in the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Earlham was one of three squads from the HCAC to receive the team award as Manchester University and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology were also on the list.
