Men's Tennis Report (Week 5) - Rose-Hulman Picks Up Pair of HCAC Wins
GREENWOOD, IN - Rose-Hulman opened its conference schedule with a pair of wins last week. The Engineers (2-4, 2-0 HCAC) claimed their first two wins of the season, beating Defiance 6-3 and Hanover 8-1.
Rose-Hulman's Brandon Benedict (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) led the Engineers during the two wins.
The freshman won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and 8-1 at No. 1 doubles against Defiance. Benedict closed the week with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph and 8-0 win at the top singles and doubles positions in the win over Hanover.
Rose-Hulman will face Mount St. Joseph, Transylvania, and Franklin in conference play this week.
In other action...
Anderson University (1-0, 1-0 HCAC) opened the season with a narrow 5-4 win over Hanover Saturday. AU's Dillon Lockwood (Goshen, Ind./Fairfield) went 2-0 on the afternoon, earning wins at No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles.
Transylvania University (1-4, 1-0 HCAC) posted its first win of the season, earning a 9-0 sweep of Manchester in the league opener for the Pioneers. Sophomore Robert Albrecht (Lexington, Ky./Christian) claimed wins at the top singles and doubles positions for the Pios.
