Men's Tennis Report (Week 6) - Engineers Improve to 5-0 in HCAC Action
GREENWOOD, IN - Rose-Hulman remained perfect in league play, finishing the week 3-0. The Engineers (5-4, 5-0 HCAC) earned wins over Mount St. Joseph, Transylvania, and Franklin to remain atop the standings.
Rose-Hulman's Brandon Benedict (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) was the top player in the Engineers' lineup for the second straight week. The freshman finished 3-0 at the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles positions to help the Engineers defeat Mount St. Joseph 9-0, Transylvania 5-4, and Franklin 7-2.
The win over Transy marked the first HCAC win over the Pioneers by a team other than Earlham in 10 years.
Rose-Hulman is scheduled to face Wabash, Manchester, and Earlham this week.
In other HCAC action...
Anderson University (2-0, 2-0 HCAC) moved to 2-0 in conference play with a 7-2 win over Mount St. Joseph Saturday. AU's Connor Whiteside (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) went 2-0 on the afternoon, earning wins at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles.
Defiance College (7-6, 2-1 HCAC) went 2-0 during the week, earning wins over Indiana East and Manchester. Senior Mike Ross (Bryan, Ohio/H.S.) won at No. 1 singles and doubles against Manchester.
