Earlham’s Bartashevich Earns Second HCAC Men’s Tennis MVP Honor

GREENWOOD, IN – Earlham College's Anton Bartashevich (Moscow, Russia/International) has been named the 2014 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Most Valuable Player, earning the honor for the second consecutive season. The junior was selected by the conference's head tennis coaches.

Bartashevich has compiled a 27-12 record during the 2014 regular season and led the Quakers to a fourth-straight HCAC title.  The junior was 14-0 against conference competition this season, finishing 7-0 overall at No. 1 singles and 7-0 at No. 1 doubles.

The HCAC has also announced the selection of Rose-Hulman's Brandon Benedict (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) as the 2014 HCAC Freshman of the Year.  Benedict led the Engineers to a 7-1 mark in conference play, finishing second in the standings.  The freshman posted a 7-1 record at No. 1 singles and a 7-1 mark at No. 1 doubles during the regular season.

Twelve other players join Bartashevich and Benedict on the All-HCAC team.  Anderson's Drew Lovern (Sr., Indianapolis, Ind.), Defiance's Mike Ross (Sr., Bryan, Ohio), Earlham's Phil Locklear (So., Springboro, Ohio), Hank Levin (Sr., Dallas, Texas), and Jack Ventura-Cruess (So., Placentia, Calif.), Franklin's Ryan Hammer (Jr., Greenwood, Ind.), Hanover's Reid Clark (So., Greenfield, Ind.), Mount St. Joseph's William Knoll (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio), Rose-Hulman's Georges Adam (Fr., Barueri, Brazil) and Matt Conrad (So., Anderson, Ind.) and Transylvania's Robert Albrecht (So., Lexington, Ky.) and Dylan Conner (Jr., Jacksonville, Fla.) have been named to this year's team.
