INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 2018 men's tennis season will come to a close this weekend, as the HCAC championships will be held this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at West Indy Racquet Club in Indianapolis.
Rose-Hulman will look to claim the school's fourth-straight HCAC tournament championship and earn the conference's automatic qualifier for the NCAA tournament that begins May 11.
The Fightin' Engineers (15-10, 7-0 HCAC) won the regular season crown for the fifth time in school history and have won seven matches out of 10 heading into the tourney. Rose-Hulman will face the winner of Manchester and Franklin on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Earlham (19-4, 6-1 HCAC) will look to claim the school's fifth men's tournament title this weekend. Earlham and Rose-Hulman met back on April 28, with the Engineers claiming a 5-4 win over the No. 2 Quakers. Earlham will face the winner of Hanover and Transylvania in a semifinal match on Saturday at 4 p.m.
No. 3 seed Hanover (11-10, 5-2 HCAC) will open play against No. 6 seed Transylvania (3-10, 2-5 HCAC) at 6:30 p.m. Friday evening in Indianapolis. The Panthers swept the Pioneers 9-0 on April 11.
No. 4 seed Manchester (4-7, 4-3 HCAC) will play No. 5 seed Franklin (6-11, 3-4 HCAC) on Friday evening in an opening round match. The Spartans defeated the Grizzlies 6-3 on April 14.
Action will get underway Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. with opening round matches. The two HCAC semifinals will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon with the championship match being held Sunday at 10 a.m.
