Justin Smith, Franklin College, Men's Tennis
Franklin College’s Justin Smith (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) delivered the Grizzlies a 5-4 win over rival Hanover Sunday and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week.
The senior outlasted his No. 3 singles opponent in a third-set tiebreaker to finish the match and hand the blue and gold the win.
Smith won 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (7-2) at No. 3 singles and also earned an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles against the Panthers.
Franklin (4-7, 3-1 HCAC) will travel south to Birmingham Southern Friday afternoon.
