Earlham freshman Aitor Zerdilas-Herrera (Athens, Greece) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week.
Zerdilas-Herrera went 6-0 in matches last week with a 3-0 record at No. 1 singles and doubles, leading Earlham men's tennis to a 3-0 record for the week. The freshman’s week included a 6-4, 6-1 win over Hanover’s Pablo Gallart Polo and a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Manchester's Connor Eichenauer, guiding the Quakers to a pair of HCAC victories over Hanover (7-2) and Manchester (9-0).
In doubles play, Zerdilas-Herrera teamed up with Aleksandr Sergeev for a pair of 8-0 victories over their HCAC opponents. The freshman ended the week by leading Earlham to a 9-0 win over four-time defending OAC champion John Carroll University, including a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over JCU's Andy Sciliano at No. 1 singles.
The Earlham Quakers (10-7, 2-1 HCAC) will host Defiance on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
