Men's Track & Field Report (Week 4) - AU Places 10th at Indiana Little State Meet

GREENWOOD, IN - Anderson University placed 10th among 19 schools at the Indiana Little State meet, tallying 30 points to lead all HCAC squads.  Manchester was the next HCAC finisher, placing 14th overall.  The 2010 meet was held at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana.

Anderson's Leonard Wells (Warsaw, Ind./H.S.) was named the Outstanding Male Field Participant at the meet.  The sophomore won the discus, finished fifth in the shot put (50' 8.25"), and placed 11th in the hammer throw (144' 11"). His throw of 170' 9" in the discus was more than three feet better than the second place finisher.

Manchester earned 16 points at the meet to place 14th overall.  Senior John Kimmel (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Elmhurst) added another high jump title to his résumé, placing first in the event with a leap of 6' 6.75".

Franklin finished 16th in the standings and earned 13 points.  The Grizzlies scored in six different events at the meet and were led by freshman Forrest Prichard's (Scottsburg, Ind./H.S.) fourth place finish in the high jump (6' 4.75").

Hanover placed last at the meet, while Rose-Hulman did not compete in the two-day event.

Bluffton University competed at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational and finished 11th among 15 schools.  Senior Jason Fisher (Rockford, Ohio/Parkway) earned second place finishes in the shot put and hammer throw, tossing the shot 49’ 5.75” and the hammer 177’ 05”.  Fisher has provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships in both events this spring.

Rob Johnson (Columbus, Ohio/Marion Franklin) earned a first place finish in the 100-meter dash at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational, finishing with a first-place time of 11.29.  Johnson currently holds the top 100-meter dash time in the HCAC this spring at 10.86 seconds.

In other action last week, Mount St. Joseph placed 15th out of 15 schools at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational.  Defiance was also in action at the Adrian Invitational.

This weekend's schedule showcases all nine HCAC institutions.  Bluffton, Defiance, and Mount St. Joseph will take part in the All-Ohio Championships Saturday afternoon, while Rose-Hulman will host Franklin and Hanover at the Rose-Hulman Twilight Friday evening.
