Men's Track & Field Report (Week 5) - RHIT Finishes 3rd at Rose-Hulman Twilight

GREENWOOD, IN - Rose-Hulman led the HCAC contingent at the Rose-Hulman Twilight meet last weekend, placing third at the 14 team event.  The Engineers tallied 100.5 points to finish 33 points behind first place Vincennes.  Franklin placed eighth at the meet, while Hanover finished ninth to round out the HCAC finishers.

Rose-Hulman’s Micah Aldrich (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) earned a first place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing with a first-place time of 9:37.48.  His effort placed him fourth-best in Rose-Hulman history. 

Junior Tyler Kreipke (Zionsville, Ind./H.S.) finished third in the 3,000-meter run with a school-record time of 8:53.58.

Franklin won one event and posted five top-five individual finishes, placing eighth among 14 schools at Rose-Hulman.  FC’s lone top finish was produced by freshman Forrest Prichard (Scottsburg, Ind./H.S.), who was first in the high jump with a best attempt of 6' 2". Prichard also finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 42' 7.5". 

Hanover received two top finishes at Rose-Hulman.  Senior Joe Vormohr (Portland, Ind./Jay Co.) and Zach Seig (Anderson, Ind./Highland) each notched first-place finishes leading the Panthers to a ninth place finish.  Vormohr won the discus with an effort of 144' 5" and Seig grabbed the top spot in the hammer throw with a heave that covered 157' 6".

Defiance, Bluffton, and Mount St. Joseph competed at the All-Ohio Championships held on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University Saturday.  The Yellow Jackets placed 14th among the 19 schools, while Bluffton and Mount finished 17th and 18th respectively.

DC's Austin Trivett (Defiance, Ohio/H.S.) led the way for the Jackets, earning All-Ohio recognition in three different events. In the pole vault, Trivett cleared 14' 9" to take second place at the meet, improving his personal record to claim the second-best height in school history.  The junior also placed fourth in 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.96 and finished sixth in the javelin throw (158' 0").

In other action last week, Manchester, Anderson, and Transylvania were in action but did not post team scores.

This weekend's schedule showcases eight HCAC institutions.  Bluffton, Franklin, Mount St. Joseph, and Transylvania will compete at the Wilmington Invitational, while Anderson, Defiance, Manchester, and Rose-Hulman will compete at different meets.
