Men's Indoor T&F Report (Week 3) - Anderson Claims Title at AU Indoor Invite

GREENWOOD, IN - Anderson University's men's indoor track and field squad earned a first place finish at the Anderson Indoor Invitational last weekend.  The Ravens tallied 159 points at the seven team event that featured five HCAC schools.

AU's Tony Johnson (South Bend, Ind./Clay) led the Ravens with a pair of victories in the 55 meters (6.53) and 200 meters (24.10). Emby Duncan (Muncie, Ind./Delta) was first in the mile (4:34.00) and second in the 1,000 meters. (2:46.28).

Other AU winners were Tanner Johnson (Huntington, Ind./North) in the 800 meters (2.03.30), Eric Linn (Macy, Ind./North Miami) in the 1,000 meters (2:44.98), the 800 relay team (1:37.40), the 1,600 relay team (3:34.12) and the distance medley relay team (11:17.58).

Manchester finished second at the meet with 108 points.  Eric Moreland (Modoc, Ind./Union) earned a first place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.73 meters. 

Earlham College placed third (90 pts) at the meet and was followed by Hanover (56.5, 5th) and Transylvania (19, 6th).

Rose-Hulman and Franklin competed at the DePauw Indoor Invitational Saturday.  The Engineers placed third at the 12-team meet, while Franklin finished eighth.

Two Rose relay teams earned first place honors and set school records in the process.  The distance medley relay team of Micah Aldrich (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central), Brent Austgen (Cedar Lake, Ind./Hanover Central), Andrew Thompson (Mundelein, Ill./Vernon Hills), and Derek Bischak (Angola, Ind./H.S.) set a new mark with a time of 10:26.03 to break a 30-year old school record.

The 4 X 400 meter relay team also topped the prior school record with a time of 3:23.50 to defeat Vincennes, Indiana State, and Wabash.

The Engineers also had an individual school record performance as Jeremiah Edwards (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) placed second in the 55-meter dash (6.51 seconds).

The Rose-Hulman men's track and field team stands first in the Great Lakes Region in the third poll released by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.  The Engineers also appear at No. 11 nationally in the Dual Meet Rankings with 131.16 points.

Defiance and Bluffton were also in action at the Ohio Northern Polar Bear Invitational.  The Jackets claimed a second place finish, while the Beavers placed fifth at the six team event.

This weekend's schedule is the final tune-up prior to the HCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 19 at Anderson University.  All ten schools will hit the track in preparation for next weekend's inaugural event.
