Men's Outdoor T&F Report (Week 3) - Ravens Claim Victory at AU Invitational
GREENWOOD, IN - Anderson University claimed the
championship at the Anderson Outdoor Invitational Saturday
afternoon, pacing the five-team field. The Ravens held off
second place Earlham and third place Hanover, totaling 146.5 points
on the afternoon.
Anderson's Tony Johnson (South Bend, Ind./Clay) led the Ravens with victories in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash, posting times of 10.92 and 23.10 respectively.
In field events, junior Leonard Wells (Warsaw, Ind./H.S.) won the discus with a heave of 146' 3"and was second in the shot put (48' 6") and hammer (137' 2").
Earlham College posted a second place finish at Anderson. Austin Manahan (Orlando, Fla./University) finished first in the long jump and triple jump with leaps of 20' 5" and 40' 3.5" to lead the Quakers.
Hanover rounded out the conference field placing third overall at the meet.
Rose-Hulman competed at DePauw alongside Manchester and Mount St. Joseph. The Engineers placed fifth overall at the 11-squad event, while Manchester and Mount earned 10th and 11th place finishes.
Junior Sutton Coleman (Lebanon, Va./H.S.) improved his Division III provisional national qualification mark in the 110-hurdles, earning the title with a time of 14.76. The time ranks him No. 2 nationally in NCAA Division III this week.
Senior Tyler Kreipke (Zionsville, Ind./H.S.) added a victory in the 5,000-meter run with the fourth best time in school history (15:16.50), while Collin Crowson (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) added a win in the pole vault with a leap of 15' 1".
In other action over the weekend, Defiance and Bluffton competed at the DC Yellow Jacket Open Friday afternoon, while Franklin placed 10th overall at Washington-St. Louis. Transylvania was also in action, finishing 12th at the Centre Invitational.
This weekend's schedule is highlighted by the Indiana Little State meet on Friday and Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan.
