Men's Outdoor T&F Report (Week 4) - Defiance Places 5th at All-Ohio Championships
GREENWOOD, IN - Defiance College placed fifth overall out of 22 teams at the All-Ohio Championships over the weekend. The fifth-place result was the best-ever finish for the Defiance men at the event.
Defiance featured two All-Ohio Champions and added another top-three finish to earn three All-Ohio honorees. Junior thrower Tom Postema (Defiance, Ohio/Tinora) won the hammer throw with a mark of 179' 00", and freshman Troy Parrett (Cedarville, Ohio/H.S.) won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.13. Sophomore Joe Davis (Mansfield, Ohio/Ontario) set a school record in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:35.24 en route to a third-place finish and All-Ohio honors.
Postema claimed two more top-five finishes with a fourth-place effort in the discus with a mark of 150' 04". He added a fifth-place result in the shot put with a toss of 49' 9".
Mount St. Joseph and Bluffton each finished 18th in the team standings with five points scored.
The Indiana Division III Championships slated to take place at Franklin College over the weekend were cancelled due to the weather.
The Transylvania men competed at the University of the Cumberlands and ran away with a fifth place finish among the 15 competing squads.
Freshman Chip Clark (Flemingsburg, Ky./Fleming Co.) led the Pioneers with a victory in the 400-meter hurdles, posting a time of 1:00.45.
This weekend's schedule will be the final tune up before the HCAC Outdoor Championships at Franklin College on April 27-28.
