GREENWOOD, IN - Anderson University played host to the nine-team Anderson Invitational Saturday. The host Ravens finished second at the event, leading the six HCAC schools competing.
Anderson’s Max Kittle (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee-Crown) took part in four event wins at the meet. The junior won the 200-meters with a time of 22.38 and claimed first place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.26. Kittle was also a member of the winning 800-meter and 1,600-meter relay teams.
Kittle’s time in the 200-meters currently stands as the ninth best in the nation this indoor season.
Manchester placed third at the meet and was followed by Hanover (5th), Transylvania (7th), Mount St. Joseph (8th), and Earlham (9th).
Bluffton, Defiance, and Rose-Hulman were in action at Ohio Northern Saturday. Rose-Hulman earned a second place finish, while Defiance and Bluffton finished sixth and ninth place respectively.
The Engineers currently stand eighth in the Great Lakes Region rankings in results released by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Franklin College competed at DePauw Friday evening, earning a second place finish at the six team meet. Freshman Taylor Christensen (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) won the long jump with a leap of 21’ 5.5” in his collegiate debut. The distance is currently the top mark in the HCAC this indoor season.
This weekend's schedule is the final tune-up prior to the HCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 22 at Anderson.
