GREENWOOD, IN - The Rose-Hulman men's outdoor track and field won its second-straight event, placing first at the 12-team Hanover Invitational Saturday. The Engineers held off second place Huntington by 32 points.
The Engineers scored 143 points at the meet to lead the seven competing HCAC squads.
Senior Nathan Catt (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:01.45, helping the Engineers to the team title.
Franklin College finished third in the team standings at the meet. Senior Leighton Gough (Connersville, Ind./H.S.) won the 5,000-meters with a personal-best time of 15:29.03, earning the top mark in the HCAC this outdoor season.
Hanover finished fourth and was followed by Manchester (6th), Transylvania (8th), Earlham (9th), and Mount St. Joseph (10th) in the standings.
Defiance welcomed Bluffton and Olivet for the Dick Small Invitational Monday afternoon. Bluffton earned the team title, edging the hosts by 15 points.
Bluffton's Trey Everett (Sidney, Ohio/Fairlawn) won the high jump (1.83 meters) and long jump (6.42 meters) to lead the Beavers to victory.
This weekend all 10 HCAC schools will be in action on the track.
