Men's Indoor T&F Report - Rose-Hulman Places First at Engineer Invitational
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's indoor track and field teams traveled over the region last weekend.
Rose-Hulman placed first out of seven teams at the Engineer Invitational on Friday night. Fightin' Engineer Nick Palmer recorded the nation's No. 14 ranked pole vault mark of 4.72 meters to help Rose-Hulman win the Engineer Invitational. The senior's mark earned him first place honors at the invite and he currently leads the HCAC in the event. 
On Saturday, Anderson and Franklin traveled to Defiance, Ohio to participate in the Defiance Invitational. Franklin placed fifth while Anderson and Defiance followed in the eighth and ninth slot. The Defiance Invitational served as a host preview for the upcoming HCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on February 16.
Earlham College traveled to Wooster, Ohio for the Fighting Scots Invitational and placed fourth out of six teams. Distance runner Austin Burt was Earlham's top performer at Saturday's invite, winning both the mile run (4:37.28) and the 3,000-meter run (9:13.68). The freshman's times were season best marks for Earlham in those events and individually, Burt accounted for 20 of Earlham's 88 points in the meet. 
Capital University hosted the Jessica Starks Open over the weekend where Mount St. Joseph and Transylvania participated. The Lions placed eighth, while the Pioneers finished in a tie for 14th out of the field of 16 teams.
Also competing last week were Bluffton and Hanover, both teams did not post a team score.
