Men's Cross Country Report (Week 5) - Anderson Posts Win at Earlham Invitational

GREENWOOD, IN-  The Anderson University men's cross country team finished first out of four teams to win the Earlham Invitational last weekend.  The Ravens held off host Earlham, IU-East, and Vincennes to capture the team title.

Anderson's Kirk Saunders (Bloomington, Ill./University) led the way for the Ravens with a first place finish.  The sophomore finished with a time of 26:53 on the 8K course.

Junior Taylor Holmes (Monticello, Ind./Twin Lakes) and sophomore Eric Linn (Macy, Ind./North Miami) both finished in the top five at the meet.  Holmes placed third overall with a time of 27:10, while Linn finished fifth overall with a time of 27:43.

Franklin College finished 19th among a highly competitive 34-team field at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic "blue" race.  Kevin Martin (Mitchell, Ind./H.S.) led the Grizzlies with a 22nd place finish (25:38.2).

Hanover and Transylvania each ran at the Greater Louisville Classic "silver" race, finishing 15th and 29th respectively in the 29 team field.

Bluffton, Defiance, and Mount St. Joseph each competed at the All-Ohio Championships on Friday.  The Beavers did not post a team score, while Defiance finished 32nd and Mount placed 36th among the 37 Ohio schools.

Manchester College also ran over the weekend, placing third among 18 schools at the Lansing Invitational.  Junior Braden Nelson (Angola, Ind./H.S.) led the Spartans with a time of 25:35 to finish 10th overall.

The upcoming weekend is light as only Rose-Hulman will hit the course.  The Engineers will host the Rose-Hulman Invitational Saturday afternoon.
