GREENWOOD, IN- Franklin College earned a third place finish in the nine-team Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational Saturday. The Grizzlies finished behind champion Wisconsin-Parkside and Augsburg in the team standings.
Sophomore Kristopher Sandlin (Scottsburg, Ind./H.S.) outran the competition, taking first place on a demanding 8-kilometer course with a time of 26:26 for the Grizzlies.
Junior teammate Brandon Litz (Mooresville, Ind./Plainfield) finished eighth with a time of 27:08.
Rose-Hulman hosted the Gibson Family Invitational in Terre Haute Saturday. The Engineers placed 10th overall, while Manchester College placed second in the team standings behind champion Bellarmine.
Manchester's Alec Womboldt (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt) finished ninth overall at the meet, finishing the course in 26:58.
The Spartans have moved all the way up to No. 4 in the Great Lakes Region in a poll released by USTFCCCA.
Rose-Hulman was paced by a 12th place finish by senior Micah Aldrich (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central). Aldrich finished the course with a time of 27:05.
Hanover College was the final HCAC squad in action over the weekend. The Panthers traveled all the way south to Orlando, Florida to run in the Disney Classic.
HC faced challenging weather conditions in addition to a strong field, finishing 17th out of 24 teams.
A strong front pack pushed the team, as a mere 40 seconds separated the first four Panthers. Freshman Logan Wells (Scottsburg, Ind./H.S.) led the team with an 89th-place finish (28:30.33).
The upcoming weekend is the final weekend of action before the HCAC Championships on October 29 at Anderson University. Anderson, Defiance, Franklin, Hanover, Mount St. Joseph, Rose-Hulman, and Transylvania will all compete at the Wilmington Fall Classic Friday afternoon, while Manchester and Earlham will run at the Manchester Invitational Saturday morning. Bluffton is also in action at Oberlin Saturday.
