GREENWOOD, IN- Manchester College placed first among eight schools at the Manchester Invitational over the weekend. The Spartans were able to beat runner-up Cornerstone 45 to 47. Earlham College also competed at the meet, placing sixth overall.
Senior Alec Womboldt (DeWitt, Mich./H.S.) was once again the top finisher for the Spartans, placing third overall with a time of 26:28.6.
The Spartans remain ranked No. 4 in the Great Lakes Region.
Earlham's Jacob Naegeli (Trout Creek, Mon./Thompson Falls) placed second in the individual standings with a time of 26:26.3, finishing eight seconds off the leader.
Seven HCAC schools took part in the Wilmington Invitational on Friday afternoon. Anderson University led the conference schools with a sixth place finish among the 26 competing squads.
Anderson's Kirk Saunders (Bloomington, Ill./University) led all the HCAC runners at the meet, earning a fifth place finish among the 298 runners. Saunders posted a time of 25:24.20 to pace the Ravens.
Franklin earned a ninth place finish at the meet and was followed by Defiance (10th), Rose-Hulman (11th), Hanover (17th), Mount St. Joseph (25th), and Transylvania (26th).
All squads will be off this weekend in preparation for the HCAC Championships on October 29 at Anderson University.
