GREENWOOD, IN- The Manchester College men's
cross country team finished fifth out of seventeen teams at the
Ohio Wesleyan Invitational over the weekend. The Spartans
totaled 181 points with Ashland claiming the title.
The squad was led again this week by senior Alec Womboldt (DeWitt, Mich./H.S.). He finished with a time of 27:14.1 which was good enough for twenty-first place overall. Womboldt was followed closely by his fellow upperclassman Calvin Cook (Plymouth, Ind./H.S.), who finished twenty-sixth overall with a time of 27:26.1.
The black and gold are currently ranked eighth in the Great Lakes Region in a poll released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Defiance hosted Bluffton and Olivet College at the DC Duals Saturday. The Jackets claimed the title at the meet, defeating both Bluffton and Olivet. Justin Perkins (Sherwood, Ohio/Fairview) was the top finisher, posting a time of 28:28.30.
Franklin, Hanover, and Rose-Hulman competed at the Hanover Invitational over the weekend. The Grizzlies placed second among the four competing schools, placing behind the University of Indianapolis.
Sophomore Kris Sandlin (Scottsburg, Ind./H.S.) placed second overall at the meet, finishing with a time of 16:16 on the rare 5K course.
Rose-Hulman placed third, while Hanover earned a fourth place finish at the meet.
This weekend's schedule is highlighted by the Indiana Intercollegiate in Bloomington Friday.
In Saturday action, Defiance and Transylvania will hit the course. Defiance will head east to Penn State-Behrend, while Transylvania will compete at Berea.
