GREENWOOD, IN- Defiance College placed third among 14 competing schools at the Penn State-Behrend Invitational over the weekend. The Jackets totaled 68 points with Buffalo State earning the team title.
Senior Justin Perkins (Sherwood, Ohio/Fairview)
and sophomore Joe Davis (Mansfield, Ohio/Ontario)
each placed in the top ten to lead the Jackets.
Perkins set the pace with a fourth-place overall finish after posting a time of 26:36.2, while Davis ran a time of 26:43.1 to end the race in sixth-place overall.
The Indiana Intercollegiate meet was held on Friday at Indiana University in Bloomington. Manchester led the HCAC field with a fourth place finish in the "Small State" standings.
Senior Alec Womboldt (DeWitt, Mich./H.S.) led the MC effort with a time of 26:17 to take 46th place in the overall individual standings.
The black and gold are currently ranked eighth in the Great Lakes Region in a poll released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Rose-Hulman, Anderson, Franklin, and Earlham also competed in Bloomington.
The Engineers placed sixth in the team standings, while AU and FC finished eighth and ninth overall. Earlham placed 13th as a team.
Anderson University’s Kirk Saunders (Bloomington, Ill./University) led the HCAC field at the meet. The junior finished 23rd among 169 runners competing at all NCAA Divisions, finishing the course in a time of 25:47.
This weekend, only Bluffton, Manchester, and Transylvania will be in action. The three schools will compete at Otterbein Saturday.
