GREENWOOD, IN- Manchester College was one of only three HCAC squads in action over the weekend, earning a third place finish at the Otterbein Invitational. The Spartans were joined by Bluffton and Transylvania at the meet.
Continuing to lead the charge for the Spartans was Alec Womboldt (DeWitt, Mich./H.S.). The senior finished fourth overall with a time of 26:39.7 to lead all HCAC runners at the meet.
In this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll, the Spartans are ranked seventh in the Great Lakes Region.
Bluffton University placed 11th at the 13 team Otterbein Invitational. Senior Andrew Chaffee (Clarkston, Mich./H.S.) was the top finisher for the Beavers, placing 57th overall with a time of 28:59.0.
Transylvania rounded out the HCAC field with a 13th place finish. The Pioneers were led by Jordan Evans (Paris, Ky./Bourbon Co.) who placed 118th in the 136 runner field.
This weekend's schedule is a full one as nine of the ten HCAC institutions will hit the course. Manchester is the lone school off this week and will return to action on October 8.
