GREENWOOD, IN - Manchester University placed first among five schools at the Manchester Invitational over the weekend. The Spartans were able to beat runner-up Wabash by 35 points.
Junior Jon Cafarelli (Elgin, Ill.) claimed the individual title with a time of 25:54.1 to lead five Spartans finishing in the top 20.
The Spartans are ranked No. 9 in the Great Lakes Region.
Eight HCAC schools took part in the Wilmington Invitational on Friday afternoon. Rose-Hulman led the conference schools with a seventh place finish among the 34 competing squads.
Franklin's Kris Sandlin (Scottsburg, Ind./H.S.) led all the HCAC runners at the meet, earning a 10th place finish among the 380 runners. Sandlin posted a time of 25:26.96 to pace the Grizzlies.
Franklin earned a tenth place finish at the meet and was followed by Defiance (15th), Hanover (16th), Anderson (19th), Earlham (28th), Mount St. Joseph (31st), and Transylvania (33rd).
All squads will be off this weekend in preparation for the HCAC Championships on October 27 at Bluffton University.
