GREENWOOD, IN- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology finished second at the University of Evansville Invitational, a meet featuring 10 schools from NCAA Division I, II and III levels.
The Engineers placed second with 60 points, finishing behind first place Southern Indiana.
Sophomore Matt Hill (Connersville, Ind./H.S.) led the Engineers with a fifth-place finish in a time of 25:29. Hill ran the best time of his Rose-Hulman career and the 11st fastest eight-kilometer time in school history with the performance.
Senior Sam Sobczak (Westfield, Ind./H.S.) came home seventh with a time of 25:52.
In other action, seven HCAC schools took part in the Wilmington #JennaStrong Fall Classic on Friday afternoon. Anderson University led the HCAC contingent with a 10th place finish among 36 schools.
Hanover (12th), Franklin (15th), Transylvania (24th), Defiance (25th), Mount St. Joseph (31st), and Earlham (32nd) rounded out the HCAC field.
Bluffton and Manchester were also in action over the weekend, running at the Oberlin Invitational Saturday. The Spartans placed 13th in the 32 team event, while the Beavers finished 28th.
All squads will be off this weekend in preparation for the HCAC Championships on October 31 hosted by Franklin College.
